Lead is an invisible neurotoxin lurking throughout our environment. Children in homes built before 1978 are at highest risk. LeadCare Plus is based on anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV), an electrochemical technique that’s been used in clinical laboratories for decades.

FAQs
- Can the LeadCare Plus DMS back up data on a USB drive?
- Yes. Follow the instructions provided in the Maintaining Test Results chapter of the LeadCare Plus with DMS User’s Guide for more information on how to back up data on a USB drive.
- Is the DMS compatible on all types of operating systems?
- The DMS is compatible with either Windows 7 (32/64 bit) or Windows 8.
- Can I connect more than one LeadCare Plus Analyzer to the DMS?
- No. Only one LeadCare Plus Analyzer may be connected to the DMS software at any given time.
- Why can’t I enter the expiration dates for the third party controls through the DMS?
- When entering information for third party controls, it is not possible to add expiration dates.
- I forgot to connect the analyzer to the DMS before running a patient sample. Now what?
- As long as the sample ID is entered and the analyzer is connected to the DMS while testing is in progress, results will transfer.
- As an administrator, how can I reset my own password if forgotten?

- Is it possible to view the monthly QC in a Levy-Jennings chart with the LeadCare Plus Data Management System (DMS)?
- No. The LeadCare Plus DMS software does not include the option to generate Levy-Jennings charts.
- Does the number of installed applications on my PC affect the DMS performance?
- Having multiple applications installed on your PC should not affect the reliability and performance of the DMS.
- The device driver for my barcode scanner failed to install automatically. What should I do?
- Step 1: Install any software that came with your USB barcode scanner onto your computer first. Some computers may automatically install the drivers required to operate this new piece of hardware.
- Step 2: Plug the USB barcode scanner into the corresponding USB port and wait for the system to recognize it. Reboot the computer if necessary to get the device working properly.
- Where can I purchase linearity samples?
- Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) offers linearity samples. Visit Validation for more information.
- How should I dispose of the components included in the test kit?
- Reagents and other test kit components should be disposed of according to the Safety Data Sheets and your local/state regulations. Safety Data Sheets are also available in Appendix D of your User’s Guide.
- Do the Magellan quality controls need to be refrigerated?
- No. All components of the test kit should be stored at room temperature. Refer to the package insert included with your test kit for more information.
- Are there any known substances or drugs that interfere with the lead test?
- Yes. For a complete list of interfering substances and their concentrations, refer to Appendix C of your User’s Guide.
- Is annual maintenance required for the LeadCare Blood Lead Testing Systems?
- Although annual maintenance is not required, your lab’s procedures may call for weekly, monthly, or annual maintenance. Refer to the Maintenance chapter of your User’s Guide for additional information on cleaning your analyzer.
- What is the CLIA complexity of LeadCare Blood Lead Testing Systems?
- The LeadCare Ultra and LeadCare Plus Blood Lead Testing Systems are cleared by the FDA with a moderately complex classification.
